Reception Manager
Role Description
Permanent | Full-time role | 40 hours a week | Monday to Thursday | 8:00am – 6:30pm | One late shift every 6-7 weeks working 10:30am – 9:00pm
Our client, an established and high-performing GP practice, is seeking an experienced Reception Manager to lead the reception function at its main site in Bexleyheath.
The practice serves a patient population of over 21,000 patients across three sites and operates from a modern, well-equipped surgery. This is a key leadership role within the practice, offering the opportunity to make a real impact on patient experience and operational efficiency.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the reception team at the main branch
- Manage, supervise, support and train reception staff
- Ensure high standards of patient care and customer service
- Take responsibility for health & safety and the wellbeing of both staff and patients within reception and waiting areas
- Work collaboratively with the wider practice team to support smooth practice operations
- Ensure effective use of systems and information technology
Essential Requirements
- Previous General Practice experience – essential
- EMIS and Docman training – essential
- Strong people-management and organisational skills
- Confidence in decision-making with an assertive and resilient approach
- Sound understanding of reception duties within a GP setting
- Familiarity with IT systems and confidentiality requirements
Person Specification
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C / 4 or above)
- Reliable, professional, and patient-focused
- Confident, calm under pressure, and able to lead by example
- Committed to maintaining high standards of care and service delivery
